Leadership Roles

In order to run a successful Design for America studio at UCLA, we feel we will need the following leadership roles and committees*:

  • Project Leaders- These folks rely on their Outlook calendar just as much as they love holding a productive meeting.  Project Leaders will be in charge of running meetings, delegating tasks, scheduling timelines, and will be the main point of contact for project related communications.
  • Internal Communications Committee- This group is for the movers and the shakers around campus.  The Internal Communications Committee is responsible for campus recruiting and updating the student community about Design for America.  Have more than 1,000 friends on Facebook?  This is the committee for you.
  • External Communications Committee- This committee is responsible for recruiting industry mentors, creating local partnerships and communicating with Design for America headquarters.  Cold calling will become second nature, and you'll become more comfortable talking to a stranger than to your best friend.
*The roles and committees outlined here are just ideas we came up with based on the experience levels of those interested in participating next fall.  We are definitely open to suggestions on how to better organize our DfA studio.
